About Gloria
I help students improve their reading skills to read more accurately, fluently, and comprehend what they read. I am a retired online teacher from Sumter and Lake Counties in FL who taught students with IEPs for seven years to improve reading abilities and catch up to their grade levels. I assess my students to determine what reading skills they are missing, and then I use a reading interventionist program based on research-based standards to ensure they make progress. Students improve their skills quickly using online games, puzzles, worksheets, and other activities. My continuous assessment program provides that students progress and move to the next level and grade.
I taught first, second, third grades, and during the last seven years, my students came to me with IEPs. I assessed the students and worked to prepare them for third grade. I was successful in most cases because I spent 30 minutes with them every day. I taught the FL standards and included games, groups, and other manipulatives to ensure each understood the skills and why it was essential to succeed before the end of third grade.

I assess the students with the GRI-6 wordlist and reading passages to determine their reading level. Next, I select the reading gaps and develop an action plan to close the gaps. Then, we move forward with small evidence-based strategies, adjusting as needed, and including hands-on resources to ensure accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
