About Emily
I'm an educator and Teach for America alum with 10 years experience, both in the classroom and in teacher development and curriculum writing. I'm passionate about Elementary education and laying the foundation for life long learning by allowing students to feel confidence and joy both in the learning process and in their own skill and knowledge development.
I am certified in New York State for Childhood Education, Grades 1-6, and hold my MA in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education, as well as my BA in English and Drama from Columbia University. I've taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades and am experienced with the learning standards and teaching methods across K-4. Currently, I work as a literacy consultant, helping schools develop their early literacy programs. I love early reading and writing, have trained extensively on structured literacy, and know that with the right help, every child can become a reader.
I received my MA in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education, and have been working in schools for 9 years, both as a classroom teacher and a teacher coach.

I would ask you (the parent/guardian) some questions about your concerns and hopes for tutoring, and work with your child to diagnose specific areas for growth so I can design a program that will meet their needs. I’d also be sure to measure and share progress as we go along!
I've worked primarily with students from grades K-2, though I've worked somewhat with students in grades 3-4, as well. I've served students of many backgrounds, and with varying skill levels and needs.
