About Yolanda

My heart is genuinely in the core of Psychology. A lot of teachers and professors want to just talk about theories but I want you to understand them and see how they are applicable. IF you can find the interest in the subject you're going to want to tell the people around you about it and if you can teach them about this subject, you have learned it. And that's what I want to do. Talk to me about what in Psychology you need help understanding and I would love to assist you. Aside from my love of learning more about Psychology, I have a B.A. in Psychology. I went to California State University Dominguez Hills and started working full time in my field a few months after I graduated in May 2018. I'm also a wiz with English and writing so, 3 birds, 1 stone.

I'm hoping this is the start. If I can learn to communicate with students online, then I'm also helping a overworked teacher somewhere and I'd be happy to be of service.

I used to tutor my classmates. Usually for free but sometimes they'd buy me some coffee or tea in return. I want to be a Psychology teacher in the state of California and focus on mental health as well as the amazing psychology finds. I want this to be a stepping stone to get to that goal. Hopefully I am as helpful and as I am hopeful for the future generations.

About the lesson

I like to ask what their learning style is. Whether that's reading, listening to me speak, looking at an idea map, or watching an instructional video. And then I go straight into the questions that they have and understand what part they don't understand or where they lose track of their thinking.

Mostly college students. I majored in Psychology so my peers always looked to me for help when our professors were running from one side of campus to another.

I would ask them to ot question their credentials but their own interest in the subject. When you really have an interest in something, you look it up, you study it without being told to do so. The ability to view subjects from different perspectives really allows a teacher to see the different avenues they can take to individually teach each student.

I love to celebrate people, to make them feel appreciated and valued. At my full time job I was labeled the office cupcake for being genuinely interested in the people I work with and for celebrating their birthdays, work anniversaries, and accomplishments. Acknowleding others and the work that they do and what they bring to the table makes a healthy working environment.
