About Elizabeth

To start, I aced every psych class I ever took. The concepts all make instant sense to me, so it was always easy for me to reframe the material for my friends in class so that they could understand. Coming up with examples and metaphors for psychology topics is like second nature for me. Now that I've graduated, I want to help students like yourself understand psychology better.

I've always understood psych topics better than my classmates, so I've been helping people in psych for awhile. I'm great at metaphors and reframing difficult concepts, so my friends always asked me for help.

I work in a coffee shop and a neuroscience lab right now. I constantly have people come into my coffee shop needing to talk, then I go to my lab where I see interesting psychological effects of brain manipulation play out in real life. Wherever I go, I'm needing to be able to answer tough questions on the spot, so I can definitely handel any tutoring questions.

About the lesson

I'd like to get to the heart of the difficulty in the material, then use logical methods to explain the concept. From there, we'd work on finding the best way to connect the concepts to real life so that they're easier to understand and recall when needed.

Mostly people my own age, but always college students.

I'd advise them to focus on their goal. Why are they trying to learn this material? Do they have to learn it to get credit, or will this one day be their career? Once you focus in on your goal and set yourself to achieve it, there's nothing that can stop you.

My friend and I recently just got back road trip to Moab where we hiked around and looked at stars. On our second day there, we woke up at 5 am to do some hiking, then we napped during the 112-degree afternoon heat, then we went down to the local creek and drank hard lemonde. On the way back to our campsite we blasted our favorite 90s music and sang as loudly as we could. It was the absolute best time. That night we went and looked at the stars under one of the most massive arches in the park and eventually fell asleep at 2 am. I love this memory because it consists of everything I love: exercise, nature, singing loudly, and being with people I love.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves: do I want to be learning this? If not, why am I in this class? If I have to be in this class (for whatever reason), what material can I glean that will be benefical for me in the future?
