About Elan

My service stands out in the way lessons are presented. I try to find a hook in which the students are interested and I design lessons around that in order to maximize engagement and understanding.

I love problem solving and I often design lessons in my head to meet the needs of specific types of students.

I have always taught others, even as a kid. I used to volunteer in classrooms at Hebrew Schools, helping teachers with Hebrew. I have tutored for bar and bat mitzvah throughout my teenage and young adult years. It was a natural fit for me.

I have a master's degree in education from George Washington University. I have taught both online history courses and in a brick and mortar classroom. I also hold an MSW from Columbia University.

About the lesson

First we would talk about the student's goals and where he/she/they feel they are falling short. We would then build a routine together based on class materials, topics and standards that are necessary to cover and review, and any extra materials that I would bring for maximum understanding and mastery.

I have worked with all ages K-12. All types of learners both neurotypical and neurodiverse. I have also had experience with learners with processing disorders in various topics.

In addition to training, I would look at how enthusiastic the teacher is and how much they would bring to the lessons. What creative ways would the teacher utilize for the student to master concepts?

My partner loves roller coasters and I have historically not been a huge fan. They have been making me get on a few in the last few years, and I absolutely loved the Superman roller coaster at Six Flags. I loved the feeling of flying through the air like Superman.
