About Nicholas

My passion for all forms of music and sounds, has driven some crazy artistic projects. I am also incredibly flexible when it comes to teaching. I realize that not all students are going to get much out of a techinic book, but some will. I put the work in to devolp lesson catered to you and needs.

I enjoy devolping a relationship with my students and seeing their passion for music evolve. Learning music will change your life and it is so fullfilling to see that change in so many students.

I started teaching 5 years ago on the side to make money for college. Then in college, I voleuntered in after-school programs that helped schools without the funding for a music program. Here is where I devolped as a teacher. I started to study music education with some of my teachers. Now that I moved to Portland, I have begain a full-time career of music eduation.

I grauated from Cornish College of the Arts with a performer-composer degree, I have been taking piano/ composition/ voice lessons for most of my life. I have also learned a great deal by performing shows and putting my work out in the world.

About the lesson

I start off by playing something with them. Then we normally talk through what they want out of our lessons and how I can help. I think it is so important to build a lasting relationship with a student.

So I have wonderful students from all backgrounds.

I have sucessfully worked with LGBTQ+ students, I have worked with very young students/older students, I have worked with students of color, and I have worked with disabled students.

My weakness is more with dual lesson. I find that it is challenging for me to adapt a lesson for two students at different techincal levels.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
"What do I want to get out of these lessons?"

I am more than happy just to spend our lessons jamming out to some Beyonce or some Brahms but that's not for everyone. So, before starting our lessons have some sort of vision of what you want.

A question I would like to ask you is "how can I accommodate that vision?"
