About Lynnette

My students get actual performance experience and often, both on small and large stages singing or playing the piano in the styles they love and gravitate towards. I encourage musical diversity and simply hone their technique so they can perform in that style with ease. They study with a master of music that understands it inside and out from years of experience and success in the professional world.

I love to watch my students better themselves no matter what degree of talent they're born with.

I started teaching piano when I was 15 years old since I already had 10 years of piano lessons by then. It was the natural thing to do to pass on my love of music to others. I started teaching voice after I graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance.

Lynnette Owens

President and Founder of Lyrical Opera Products, Inc. and Lyrical Opera Theater

Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University

Professional musician for 32 years

Teacher for 39 years

Lynnette started taking piano lessons at the young age of five and gave a solo piano recital at age 12 playing advanced piano songs such as Debussy's Clair de lune, Kachaturian's Toccata and Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee. She continued taking piano lessons competing in her college's concerto competition. She has accompanied for professional opera companies such as the Utah Opera, Rome Festival, Lyrical Opera Theater and Capitol Opera Harrisburg and performs as a soloist doing notoriously difficult songs such as Liszt’s Un Sospiro and Chopin’s Fantasy Impromptu for audiences throughout Utah. She plays at weddings, funerals, parties of all sorts and does professional level accompanying.

After receiving her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, Lynnette went on to have a professional classical singing career that included being a soloist in NYC's Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphony and a 300-voice chorus in Mozart's Requiem and Vesperae solennes de confessore. She has thrilled audiences and critics alike with her operatic performances which included roles such as Madama Butterfly in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Minnie in Puccini's La Fanciulla del West, Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème, and Tosca in Puccini's Tosca amongst numerous others. She has been a soloist with the Lyrical Opera Theater, Rome Festival Opera, Utah Symphony & Opera, Amici Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Sarasota Opera, Bleeker Street Opera in NYC, MidAmerica Productions, the American West Symphony and the Da Camera Choir and Symphony of Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Lynnette teaches kids to adults. She’ll happily demonstrate her musical and teaching skills during a free consultation with you. Call with questions or details or go to her website, (concealed information) for more in-depth exploration.

About the lesson

The first lesson is always free. If it works for both of us we then go on to schedule regular weekly lessons.

I teach kids to adults to grandparents!

Ask the teacher to perform their skill for you. A teacher has to demonstrate the skill they're teaching and know how it feels and what works and doesn't work from having perfected the skill themselves.

My students get actual performance experience performing in all sorts of styles from contemporary to Broadway to rock to classical. We perform at the "Festa Italiana" every year performing in various genres. Some of my students get to perform with the Lyrical Opera Theater. We just finished performing the opera Carmen.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What level of skill does the teacher have in the area they're teaching? Can the teacher demonstrate the skill? How often does the student need to practice? Will they get to practice in styles they enjoy? Will they learn how to audition? Will they learn how to perform?

I can't say enough positive things about Lynnette's vocal and piano teaching skill. Lynnette is extraordinary at her talent and her ability to teach piano and vocal is second to none. She has spent a life time perfecting her trade and it shows in her ability to take individuals from the most basic level up to those who are highly talented and help them to continually improve and enjoy doing it. I have been taking piano lessons from Lynnette for the past 7 years and vocal lessons for the past 5 years and I would highly recommend her to anyone wishing to take piano or vocal lessons. She is very patient and skilled in her teaching methods. I can’t possibly envision a point in my life were I would choose to stop taking lessons from her, I simply enjoy it to much to give it up.
