About Alyona

Alyona loves teaching piano and has recently served on the faculty at the Portland Conservatory International Piano Festival. She draws upon the methods learned in the traditional training she received when studying piano in Russia. Alyona is also a registered Suzuki teacher, and utilizes elements of this teaching philosophy as well in her work with students and parents.

Influences

My primary teachers: Pavlina Dokovska and Vladimir Feltsman (Mannes College), Tamara Poddubnaya (Long Island Conservatory), Irina Ovchinnikova and Anatoliy Pogorelov (Voronezh, Russia).

My approach to teaching is also influenced by a countless number of hours spent around my dear mother Nina Aksyonova, as I was growing up in a house where she taught piano lessons from morning to night.
