About ChoCho

Helping students achieve their dreams while expanding their love of the art since 2001!

Music has been a life long passion of mine. I started at 3 on piano with lessons from my Mom, then began flute at 8. I have been playing flute and piccolo professionally since 2002 in small ensembles, orchestras, solos and military ensembles. Some highlights of my career are performing and traveling throughout the Asia Pacific with the United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band, teaching master classes around the world, and performing the Mozart flute and harp concerto with a full orchestra in Hawaii. Additionally, I have worked with students with down syndrome, alzheimers, and autism to help work with the brain.

I absolutely love seeing the joy on each student's face as they hear the difference in their sound and achieve one of their dreams. I love hearing each student's story and being able to be a part of chasing their dreams - whether playing for fun or professionally. Each student has their own expression of the art of a piece and it is just magical to hear and see the musical pictures come alive as they paint their masterpieces through song.

I started teaching by helping a couple of friends out with some audition and test pieces they were struggling with. My passion for teaching ignited and I began my studio. As I continued to grow and research all the benefits of music, I expanded to assist those with down syndrome, alzheimers and dementia. It was incredible watching their faces light up as they created beautiful music!

Over 20 years of teaching and performance experience. Played in the United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band for 3 years. Performed with multiple small ensembles including a woodwind trio, woodwind quintet, flute quartet, flute duo, and flute and guitar duo. Students have been accepted to the Julliard School, Rice Shepherd School of Music, University of Southern California, and many others. I have also done regional and national solo and small ensemble competitions with my students.

About the lesson

Each student comes with individual goals so the lesson structure and repertoire are selected based on the individual and what their goals are. Technique, musicality and fun are always part of the deal!

I have worked with students from all walks of life - children, adults, working, in school, parents, grandparents, those with dementia, alzheimers and down syndrome, students who are there for fun, there for an audition, or there for competition.

Try a few teachers out. Not every teacher and student are right for each other. The goal is to find the teacher that meets your desires and can help you achieve your goals.
