(concealed information)

Like a lot of teachers, I was inspired by my piano teacher growing up. She helped me to appreciate all aspects of learning the piano, including musicianship, music theory, music history, ear training, and composition. I started giving lessons in high school and immediately realized that I loved teaching piano.

Minor in Music from Case Western Reserve University

Music Theory II at Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM)

Private Instruction taken with Sean Schultz at Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM)

8 years experience as church pianist

About the lesson

New students are invited to meet me at a no-risk lesson. We will get to know each other and have some fun at the piano. You only pay if you decide to come back for lessons.

I mostly teach elementary school aged students, but I have had a few middle school and high school students, and I am open to teaching adults as well.

A curious student who asks questions and is interested in learning the "why" behind the music will mesh with my style of teaching. The student who will do best with me is one who is willing to practice 4-5 days a week for 20-30 minutes day, depending on level.

What are you looking to get out of piano lessons? Do you want to perform at contests? Do you want to be able to play songs you hear on the radio? Do you want to be able to accompany a choir or band? Or do you want to play for personal enjoyment? Do you plan on practicing every day, or only at lessons? How far do you want to travel for lessons? When looking for a teacher, make sure you find one who suits your needs. Every teacher has a different personality, some of which may be more motivating to you than others. Every teacher has their own personal priorities, as well. Ask for a trial lesson so you can get to know a teacher before committing.

I recently tried a new event, which I called "Studio Day", with great success. My students signed up for a block of time to record a CD. I edited and produced their CDs and presented them at their next lesson.

I always enjoy my student recitals. It's a time when they get to show off all their hard work.
