About Richard
I don't teach kids how to play piano. I help kids find joy in art through music using piano. I help guide the learning process of music which can be applied to any instrument. I focus on a blend of teaching styles that focus on theory, history, technique, and demonstration. Not only will the students learn to read music, they learn the building blocks of music. My instruction will introduce composition ideas, improve, ear training, mood setting, and musical tension. Musical guidance will help those who want to have experience as a soloist as well as playing in bands and ensembles. I teach kids at any age and experience level. I am not limited to piano students as I teach music that can be applied to any music. These are not the traditional music lessons, but a full emersion into the art of music. My instruction is custom tailored to each student.
I have been performing music for over 30 years. I have many years experience doing studio work. I have many years experience in commission and arrangements. I love music as it is truly part of my existence and my love and excitement feeds into my students.

I don't believe in one solution fits all. The most important thing I emphasize is fun and true appreciation in music. With that, dedication will follow and results will follow. I prefer working with kids of all ages who are ready to find the joy of art and expression
Find a teacher that will plug into your kids joy and appreciation of music. Find someone that will have fun interacting with your kids and help make music fun and exciting and help empower them to want to become the best they can be.
