About Dan
I am a very personable teacher and I perform locally within CT as an inspiration to my students and the public. I began playing piano over 25 years ago and it is one of my favorite things. I still enjoy practicing and learning more myself. I meet my students where they are, answer their questions and encourage them to keep progressing. Follow this link to learn more about me...
(concealed information)
Music makes sense to me. I've always been gifted in this realm since a child. So I enjoy my work because it calms me. I don't need much effort to play and practice - it starts from within me. Hence, I named my business Soul Music. I love to play (esp. classical) and feel what the composer wanted to express through the song.
Word of mouth & referrals
I began playing over 25 years ago. I was trained by the late Phinehas Valenti of Valenti School of Music in New Britain, CT. I won a state competition in 2006 and in 2010, began recording my own albums. I began my business of Soul Music in 2017 in which I now teach private lessons and perform throughout CT.

I start with them wherever they left off with a previous teacher or if they're brand new to the piano, I make sure they learn what each note is called and where it's positioned on the piano. Then I began teaching them how to read music on ledger lines and translate that to the specific piano keys
I have taught children, teens and adults. Some with zero prior knowledge and others with some knowledge. Some of my students prefer classical, some sacred/religious and some pop.
Take 2 lessons and get a feel of the style of teaching/learning. If it is challenging, enjoyable and you progress in those two weeks, keep taking lessons.
I am most fond of my classical concerts. My first was in 2017 at the Univ. of St. Joseph in West Hartford and then others around Bristol and Cheshire
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What is your goal/focus in taking lessons? Is it for extra-curricular studies only or do you want a future in music?
2. How determined are you to press through the difficult weeks that seem dry but where it is still important to practice?
3. What style of music interests you?
4. Are you interested in theory lessons or simply reading/playing music?

Dan is patient and thorough. We know our daughter is in good hands while she learns how to play piano.
Dan is a talented pianist and teacher with a gift for meeting each student’s needs. In our household he is teaching a nine year old and that boy’s grandmother, both with humor and patience.
Dan has such a kind gentle approach! He is so knowledgeable in classical pieces, composing, and much more. I’ve learned a lot from Dan in my musical journey. I definitely recommend him to others for lessons, you won’t be disappointed!
Dan is patient and talented, he can come in at any level and take me where I need to go.
I liked that Dan thoroughly engages his students with his passion for the piano. Time just flew by while I enjoyed every moment learning more about this fascinating instrument. I highly recommend him as a teacher, he is patient and extremely knowledgeable.
My instructor is very kind and patient. He teaches me a lot about music and the piano, and helps me if I don’t understand a certain concept. He also gives out a reasonable amount of homework and a manageable time frame to practice. He does not pressure to hard but he makes sure you are on pace and not following behind. My instructor also has a talent of making students who are not interested in piano start to enjoy playing piano. Overall, my experience with my instructor has been great so far and I am excited to continue to learn from him .
Dan is a talented musician and has a special way with young students. He communicates with parents on their child’s progress and is a positive influence for the children.
My son has been taking piano lessons with Dan for just over a year. It’s been a great experience so far! My son progresses well (as much as he is willing to put into it) but Dan is very patient with him, and very encouraging as well. Prices are more than reasonable, especially because we have seen him get better and be more confident over just this past year. I would and have recommended Dan to others who are looking for lessons for their children or even for themselves!
Dan is a great teacher. He really took the time to explain the beginning basics of piano. My daughter with no experience learned so much just from a few lessons. He takes his time to teach each child and won’t move on to the next lesson until he knows that your child fully understands it. He’s very reliable and pricing is very reasonable! I would recommend Soul Music to everyone!
Dan is an amazing piano player and great teacher. My son is special needs and expressed an interest in learning how to play. Dan was so patient with my son and taught him in such a gentle and compassionate manner. We were very blessed to find him!
