About Emily

I am a student at the University of Texas A&M in pursuit of a degree in Mechancal Engineering and I love math and science! I have previously worked at tutoring centers and love helping people in math and science because I am very passionate about those subjects!

I have always excelled in math and science so my friends have always asked me for help and told me I am very good at explaining. Eventually I thought I could use this skill as a job since I am good at it and enjoy it.

To start, I have been babysitting for a very long time, so I love and I am well-equipped to work with younger students. I also worked at a tutoring center that was specifically for K-8 students to help in writing, reading, and math. But beyond that, I tutor kids that are in high school and college in the subjects of math and science because I am skilled in those subjects and really enjoy explaining them. Since I am a Mechanical Engineering student, I am constantly working on my math and science skills.

About the lesson

First I learn about the subjects that a student needs guidance in and then together, the student and I can narrow down the subject into specific topics or skills that are the problem areas. I like to work together with the student to help guide them through the areas they need help with rather than just telling them how to do problems. I am a big believer in understanding a topic, NOT memorizing how to do problems.

I have worked with students from kindergarten to sophmores in college. I am open to tutor all ages!

I believe you should choose someone who enjoys what they teach because it is very evident in everything they do. A teacher who enjoys teaching and enjoys their subject will be happy to help guide you through subjects, take their time, and have patience to ensure the most comfortable learning environment for you. Also, from personal experience, a teacher who is passionate about a subject can easily spread that passion to a student so that you will also enjoy what you are learning.

Since I am a high schoool graduate and a college student with experience, I typiclly charge at least $30-40 per hour, which is also the average price for tutors who are my age with my experience. If need be, that price is not set in stone.
