About Peter

I tailor my tutoring at the individual level. I work with students to make sure they are getting help that will further their understanding of the material and how to translate that understanding into academic success in their classes.

I enjoy helping students conquer tough topics. Science is hard and therefore provides a great opportunity for students to gain confidence in their ability to conquer difficult tasks and solve difficult problems. I love watching students transform as they gain confidence.

I got started teaching at the highschool I went to. I was applying to medical schools and needed a job for a year. My highschool chemistry teacher hired me to fill in for him while he was on sabbatical for a year. It didn't take me long to realize that teaching was for me. I love working with kids and helping them grow as students and members of society.

I have been teaching highschool science for 3 years. I have experience teaching chemistry, physics, biology and wildlife biology.

About the lesson

I like to find out what kind of student they are and what kind of learning works best for them. I want to know what their current problems are and what they've done so far to address them. From there, I typically like to develop a plan with the student for how we can work together to improve in whatever areas they are struggling in and set realistic short term and long term goals.
