About Russell

I have been teaching Photography, Video, and Photoshop in universities and colleges in the St. Louis area since 1993.

I have taught at Washington University, St. Louis College of Pharamacy, Indiana University and St. Louis Community College.

I started teaching Photography at Community Darkroom Co Op in Rochester NY while I was a graduate student.

I have a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester New York. My degree is throught the State University of New York. Village at Brockport.

About the lesson

I determine what they know, and then what they would like to know and build a personalized education plan based on their needs.

All kinds. From Washington University to St. Louis Community College at Florrisant Valley. I have literally taught students photography ranging in age from 13 to 80.

Don't be afraid to Ask questions! A good teacher will happily answer all of them. This in the only way you can be sure you will work well with the teacher's education style.

One of my former students who is now a professional high end wedding photographer mentioned in a trade publication that I was her favorite photography teacher.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should be sure of exactly what technical knowledge they want to learn at the end of the course. Set you goal first and then look for the person who can help you get there first. Be realistic about your current skills.
