About Garfield

My business was established upon professionalism and high standards, which has enabled me to service international clients and national clients alike. Over time my business has established a stellar reputation and has consistently provided a prenium service for very high profile clientele.

I have been widely published in magazines, books, brochures, billboards, posters and on the web. I have photographed the 43rd President of the United States and hollywood stars. I have also been featured on one television series deakingvwith fashion, as the main photographer.

Under my tutelage, assistants have learned to hone their skillls and professionalism and have moved on to establish succesful careers in the field.

I am one of five judges on the board at Rutgers University that judges the staff photograpers’ work for the Case V photography award, the most pretigious awards given to staff photographers in the United States and was one of three panelists that in conjunction with the Library Of Congress and Photoshelter that lectured on SEO for photographers.

My proficiency spans the gamut from film photography to digital photography.

My first teaching job came when I was asked to teach in a summer program from 1993-1995 at Passaic County Community College.

I'm trained in Film, digital photography and video. I'm an expert lighting technician and studio photographer. Still life photography is a specialty of mine. As a fine art photographer I'm widely exhibited in galleries and museums. My work can also be found in private colldetions. My stock photography is represented by agencies in Europe, Asia and North America.

I first evaluate my student’s skill level and assess his/her needs to determine my approach and starting point. Then based on his/her proficency, I plan my lessons.

The students that I have had were all my interns. They came to me from various colleges: Jersey City University, William Peterson University and School of Visual Arts (NYC). I also was a guest teacher at La Guardia College, where I presented lessons on Still life and studio photography.

So, my students were from a mix of mid level to semi-advanced students, and working professionals looking to learn specific techniques in studio and in darkroom.

Some students wanted to learn the business end of photography and how to market and price quote jobs.

I would advise students who are looking for a photography teacher to first research the photographer's work online and study their website and social media profiles. By doing so, the student will see the photographer's recent activity, their styles and specialties, and will learn about the photographer's proficiency and professionalism.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should first be self-motivated and have a passion for photography, owing to the consiuderable investment it will take to advance and move towards proficency.

Knowing how dedicated you are to the craft will likely fuel your interest and foster the decipline necessary to excel at the photographic arts.

Asking am I ready to make the necessary investment in my craft?... will let you know how far you want to go in the field.
