About Gavin

I am a freelance videographer/photographer with live-action film production and animation experience based in Portland, OR. I have worked on several small live-action commercials, two stop-motion feature films, and edited videos and motion graphics for an in-house NBA basketball team.

I want to work with people to help further their knowledge and experience when it comes to digital content. Video and photos are a staple of our everyday life with smartphones at our finger tips and I can help you understand how all of the content works together and can be created.

(concealed information)

My parents were teachers at my school growing up. I have always known that I have wanted to teach, but I always thought it would be later in life once I was older. With this website, I can help teach people currently while I am in the midst of my professional career.

I have a BFA in Film and Video Production from Pacific University (2014). Since then I have:

-Edited videos for the Portland Trail Blazers
-Filmed and photographed houses for real estate companies
-Filmed products at conventions across the country
-Camera assistant on two stop-motion feature films at Laika Studios (Kubo and the Two Strings and Missing Link)
-Lighting Technician on the stop-motion tv show, SuperMansion season 3.
- Started my own production business filming weddings and commercial projects for small businesses.

About the lesson

I usually like to have a Skype or Facetime conversation first. That way we can get to know each other a bit more. I find that if we have that meeting, both of us have more of a relationship to be able to communicate better down the line if we decide to switch to communications through email or other means.

I have worked with elementary students to create stop-motion short films to college and adults. I have usually talked and worked with people who are hungry to learn more about digital content.

I would recommend seeing what their experience is and if that is something that interests you. There are a lot of people who offer big workshops or educational experiences but before putting any money down, it is very important to understand what content they are able to cover and if it will be a good learning experience for you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is good to have some questions before we talk, but it is also ok not to have any questions too. If you are working on a project and you want to just talk it through with me, that is something I am more than happy to do and we can hopefully look through it and find any potential bumps that we can fix.
