About Ray
In addition to 40 years experience as a photographer in a variety of fields, I also trained student photographers during my 21 years as the chief media photographer at a major university and have since taugt photography in community education and various workshops. To me, teaching photography is not simply understanding the technical aspects of the camera and how they effect the photo, but also teaching the student to understand what makes a good photo, teaching them to "see" the photo before taking it and understanding composition. The camera is simply the tool to capture your creative image image
What I enjoy the most about photography is the ability to take a single moment of time or scenery and freeze that instant forever and allowing others to see it. Photography is a creative process and is never exactly the same, which makes me look at every photo shoot as unique. Photography has also allowed me to meet people and have experiences (especially in photojournalism) I never would have had otherwise

If they always use thier camera in automatice settings, they are allowing the camera to make all decision on how it comes out.by learning how F stop controls depth of field, shutter effects speed and action and lens size effect those too, a student can control the camera to get the vision they saw. From ther, we learn aboutcomposition the creative process and techniques for getting the best image withdifferent types of photography
