About Rick
Rick W. is one of the nation's premier veteran award-winning photojournalists working for a wire service in America today. He loves to share his experience to help others improve their photography.
He's covered some of the most important defining events in the U.S. in the last decade like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Harvey and five U.S. presidents. He's traveled the world (over 75 countries) shooting major news and sports events, including 7 Olympics, and has been published in virtually every major news outlet world-wide through his work for Reuters and many others.
He spent 8 years based in Zurich covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa before moving to Washington, DC where he worked for 9 years. Now based in Colorado, he covers the front page story of the day all over the country and produces compelling long-term documentary work focusing on the issues that affect us all from obesity to housing to gay marriage and drugs.
A major factor in his success, in addition to his unsurpassed photographic talent, is his personality that instantly helps him bond with his subjects in a mutually trusting way - a key in compelling documentary work but also in teaching others. He is highly sought after for news assignments and corporate work.
Rick has taught 100s of students digital photography for Best Buy and he has been working as a professional photographer for 45 years all over the world including as a staff photographer for Reuters and The White House.
I was hired by Best Buy to work as a photo coach for their camera department employees
I train hundreds of students every year in week long photography boot camps all over the country.
