About Beth
I am truly the definition of extravert so I love to be with people and photograph the beauty they ALL have! So teaching comes naturally to me as I want everyone to be able to feel the joy when they get that awesome shot using the skills they have learned from me.
I not only LOVE being a photographer but I love to work with students and see them learn to love photography as much as I do. When that "lightbulb" goes off and seeing the excitement and light in their eyes truly brings me joy.
I started teaching for some corporations that wanted to offer photography classes on site in 2012. I continued to teach at schools in Bethesda, Maryland for their before and after school programs. I have also taught classes at local REC centers and privately with photographers and that want to advance their skills.
I have been a professional portrait photographer since 2011. I started my photography journey in 1986 when I started a photography class in high school.
I have had a passion for photogrpahy ever since I picked up my first Pentax SLR that my father loaned me for the first class. I continued my passion as a hobby until 2010 when I took an internship with a professional photographer while living overseas.
I returned to the United States in 2012 and I opened my studio here in Fairfax Station and it's been a blessing to go to work each day.

During the first private lesson I will evaluate their skill level and then come up with an acceptable lesson plan to improve their skill and work on topics they are interested it developing.
I have worked with kids as young at 7 years old up to adults. All with various skills levels from beginning to advanced.
Find out if the teacher is a good fit for your skill and level. Be sure to be specific about what you know and don't know. This way you and your teacher can be sure you are a good fit for each other.
I love photographing kids of all ages. My current favorites are working with High School Seniors as they are so creative. But I adore kids too and one of my favorite annual events is photogrpahing a Father Daughter ball for military families.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about your skill level and be honest with yourself and your instructor. You are there to learn so having a good sense of self and where you are will really speed along the process for your instructor to get you to the skill level you desire.
