About Sherri

My lessons are a collaboration between the two of us. I have over ten years of experience teaching photography on all the major camera brands. I enjoy the process and satisfaction that you will get when you expand your photography skills by getting off of auto or enhance your pictures in Photoshop.

I often find that once a student understands the basic concepts of photography through my lessons they have an ah-ha moment....and begin to take control away from the camera and begin to make clearer, sharper, and better pictures.

Because of Covid-19, all my lessons are done online through Zoom. I also provide digital handouts that give you the ability to practice and reference key information that we covered. Also, regardless of our online class, I am available to you answer any questions you may have or troubleshoot issues you may be experiencing.

I believe the benefit in private lessons is that you are in the driver's seat with a destination in mind. My job is to navigate and make sure we have the best roadtrip possible. Photography is a journey!

Many times students come with creative skills..it's the technical complexity of the digital cameras that is difficult to learn from a manual. My years of experience teaching photography has given me the skills to illustrate the technical in a lanuage everyone can understand. I also enjoy making this process fun.

I started teaching when I was in the photography fellowship program at Crealde School of Art. It was a very fulfilling experience and within a year I was put on faculty. I've taught both film and digital to children and adults.

I have since focused exclusively on adult photography education, and am in the process of formalizing my certifications.

I have been a photography instructor for over 10 years. I've taught both adult and children in film and digital photography at Crealdé School of Art and Mennello Museum of American Art. I continue my photography education by participating in online and private workshops across the counrty, as well as the Southeast Center for Photography.

I'm an exhibiting fine art photographer with pieces in both public and private collections. I was 2011 Artist of the Year at Crealdé School of Art, received an Individual Artist Grant from United Arts of Central Florida, and was awarded the Nikon Scholarship to attend Sante Fe Photographic Workshops in New Mexico. I was also a Photography Fellowship student and Studio Artist at Crealdé.

I love being able to use my photography skills to give back to the community. I have had the pleasure of volunteering at Help Portrait Orlando. I have collaborated with SNAP! Orlando teaching workshops. I was honored to teach two Storyteller programs with Crealdé School of Art that taught high-school aged students documentary photography. Both programs produced exhibitions that have been shown throughout Central Florida including The Orlando History Museum.

My passion for photography is equalled by my love of teaching. I would be thrilled to be part of your photographic journey!

New camera or new to photography? Find yourself flipping backwards and rereading segments of the manual over and over again? You are not alone. Understanding your camera and core concepts in photography is difficult when you can't have a conversation with someone and ask questions. I love YouTube too, but sometimes you need one-on-one guidance.

The first step .... I want to know about you. It's obvious you love photography, now let's assess where you are today and what your goals are and how much time you have available to commit to lessons. Only then can I develop a road map and give you a price (see fourth paragraph for pricing examples).

Once you understand the basic concepts of photography - you will be amazed at how quickly you progress. On average, my students get off auto within three hours of instruction. They normally never look back!

Typically, beginners wanting to understand their camera and basic photography concepts such as exposure, metering, white balance, and focusing will cost $50-$75/hr.  Intermediate to Advanced lessons in Photoshop, Advanced Composition, Advanced Metering and Exposure, Archival Printing, ICM, and Documentary Photography are priced on an individual basis.

All. From their first time with a camera no idea how to turn it on to master classes with seasoned photographers.

Find an instructor that is willing to collaborate on your lessons. No two photographers are alike... nor should they be.

I attended Photoshop World this year (2017) and found the their program had something for everyone.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you would like to come away from a lesson(s) with being able to do. Be realistic about the expectations and be willing to spend as much time as money on learning.
