About Jim

I have been an artist and photographer my whole life. I am passionate about being creative and the creative process. 30 years of being self employed and very successful. Thanks for your interest in my work!

(concealed information)

(concealed information)

The process of lighting and capturing a compelling image has always excited me. Especially people photos.

I have taught many assistants my lighting and approach to photography, composition and the photo business. I have been told I have a good way of teaching.

I have 30 years of performing and selling commercial photography as a business. Very successful and love to teach others!

About the lesson

First, I assess where the student is regarding the subject. What is the focus of the discussion? How does the student learn best. I'm very hands on. I believe most people learn best by doing.

I'm most cases my students are younger photographers that have a desire to be professionals. Some are interns from local colleges. Others are paid assistants. I was an assistants for 3 years before I started my own business in 1986.

I would recommend a working professional.

Its very easy to make a good photo.

It takes some work to make a fantastic photo!

...and lots of practice.

I recently attended Burningman in Nevada.

As an artist I found this a very fulfilling exploration of art and culture.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What photo subjects really interest me?

Do I have samples of photos that inspire me?

I'm I really committed to learning this craft?

What do I really know about lighting?

It's versatile, dynamic and super fun. 1212 has a nact for making things work in creative ways. It's structured but also has this "ease of use" element to working. I really love how great of a teacher Jim is. He is willing to listen and figure out needs, a super selfless individual. I think in essence that why the business thrives bc it's leadership is solid and true. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
