Dave is a gentleman and a scholar; an experienced teacher; and a kick-tush photographer. I took a couple lessons with Dave to prepare for a hiking and fund-raising project. He teaches in an approachable style, using professional photos and a focus on the critique to convey memorable principles about aesthetics, composition, and technique. In other words, he told me stuff I could remember and use to take better photos right away! In all seriousness, I highly recommend Dave as a photographer AND teacher.

Dave is clearly a born teacher. His teaching style is to empower the student to engage with and interpret photos, understand what's going on behind the lens, and start thinking about finding your own style. He takes you through the basics in his introductory lesson, and helps you understand how even simple rules of thumb can exponentially elevate a photo. I can't recommend highly enough!

I had a wonderful experience working with David. His teaching experience really allowed me to learn not only about my camera, but also the fundamentals about photography. He works at a pace you are comfortable with and offers assignments and discussions that made me look at photos that I’ve taken as well as others have taken difficulty. I learned a lot and enjoyed the experience.
