About Annie

I am an encaustic painter who has a passion for making creation explorative and fun. My workshops and classes allow participants to experince the joy of creation without restraint as the work unfolds organically.

Whether an artist is just starting out or well along their career I can help guide them toward their creative as well as business goals.

I enjoyed teaching tools and techniques as well as working with clients to discover if or what might be holding them back. Often a little knowledge or some hands on experience goes a long way in transforming the work.

Having had experience teaching design, teaching encaustic has come easily to me. I enjoy working with students and watching as they develop their own style and method of working with the wax. Students love the explorative nature of the medium and enjoy sharing their personal process and finished works with the class. Classes are experimental, judgement-free and most of all, fun.

I have been an encaustic painter for 10 years and have developed my own method for using the medium in this time. Previously I was an award-winning graphic designer and have taught design at the University level. My prior teaching experience and design skill have enabled me to present my classes in a professional yet experiential manner. I offer students a step-by-step curriculum and provide handouts of the process for them to take back to their own studio.

About the lesson

I work with students at any level as my process of encaustic painting is vastly different from most encaustic painters. I use a well-crafted curriculum to teach students the basics in a fun and critique-free environment while guiding them toward fulfilling their vision for the work.
