About Sohum

I am currently a student studying Computer Science at Purdue University. I have recently graduated from high-school and I am well versed with high-school and middle-school mathematics. I also familiar with the IB math curriculum and have substantial resources specific to this curriculum.

I enjoy helping other students as I also used to struggle with certain subjects. I find that students are best able to learn from someone who has gone through similar experiences. I hope to help students overcome their difficulties and attain their goals.

I started teaching in high-school when I used to be part of a student organization that on helping students catch up in certain subjects. I later expanded my services and began tutoring other high-school students in my vicinity.

I have graduated from the IB curriculum, where I took higher-level math and physics courses. I currently attend Purdue University as a Computer Science major. Additionally, I have provided tutoring services for other students from middle and high-school.

About the lesson

Typically, I will ask a student to show me some sample math problems that they are stuck on or tell me about particular topics that they find difficult to deal with. This will give me a rough idea of what practice and training I should arrange for. I can then prepare a detailed plan that caters to the students needs. I will create studyguides or study sheets for students as I find that this has helped my students advance their skills in the past. I will also find some homework practice or questions for the student. I would prefer it if students could send me their syllabus or content list prior to the tutoring session, so thaat I have a clear idea of what they need help with.

I have worked with students studying math, physics and occasionally computer sciences. I have also worked with middle-school students.

I would advise the student to look for a tutor that will be able comprehensively understand their needs and their doubts. Students should also look for someone of similar age or interests as they might find it easier to communicate with that person.

During a recent tutoring experience, I was glad to see my students take an interest in mathematics, so much so that they decided to research more about trignometric ratios and their proofs regardless of it not being in their syllabus.

Students should identify specific problems with certain concepts or math problems, so teachers can have a better idea of where their struggles lie.
