About Andrea
I have been a teacher for undergraduate and graduate students in an out of the laboratory teaching science, writing, and problem-solving! I am always happy to help answer any question (I am a firm believer in "no questions is a stupid question")- all questions lead to discovery, learning, and growing!
I enjoy helping others succeed and grow in their understanding!
I got started teaching in my pursuit to become a research scientist, as most become professors and research at a university.
I am a science PhD. My doctoral degree focused on genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and physiology. I have taught students ranging from very young all the way to graduate students for 6+ years.

My typical process is to see where the student is at in their current understanding of the subject. I like to then assess that by asking some questions or involving them in the conversation as I begin to teach the concept. Having the student interact and discuss often helps them learn on a high level than jsut being tested or listening alone.
I have worked with young students teaching basic math and reading (~ age 5), undergraduate students, graduate students, and students with less than fluent english that need just a bit of assistance to write and read.
Look at how they aim to teach. Some students are partial to listening, others are visual learners. It is important to pick a tutor that will fit your style so you will better understand the content.
Visiting with my family is always my favorite. Recently I became a doctor and my whole family was there to watch me graduate!
