I have been a Kindergarten teacher for 5 years. I have taught in Chesterfield, VA as well as in Prince William County, VA. I have done both virtual and in-person learning and have created lesson plans that are engaging, assessed my students' learning, and created instruction based on any gathered data.

I want to get to know my students as learners and build relationships with them, so I would probably start with a small personal interview before starting with anything academic. This will allow me to personalize any lessons to make it more fun and engaging for them. After I have learned more about my student, I will do some basic pre-assessments to understand where their strengths and their weaknesses are. I would then use that to cater our tutoring sessions.
I have worked primarily with Kindergarten students, but also did student teaching with 1st grade, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. Both schools that I have worked in are in a Title 1 area and the students vary academically, racially and socio-economically.
