About Amisha

I have always loved working with children, especially when it came to teaching math. As a senior in high school, I hope to pursue a career in education in the nearby future. I have had the privilege of being a Boys and Girls Club Tutor, personal at-home tutor, and a student teacher in a 5th classroom.

I hope to be able to not only connect with your student, but to also give them the help and support that they need in order to excel in math.

I began teaching primiarly due to my past tutoring experiences. I am hoping to be a teacher in my nearby future, given that I am almost done with my high school career.

I have always found myself in positions of teaching among students, such as being a Boys and Girls Club Tutor, a volunteer Student Teacher at my local elementary school, and a personal at-home tutor.

I also have been a Outdoor Ed Cabin leader and a swim instructor, so I am very accustomed to children's behaviors. I understood them and work with them to uncover their abilities to problem solve as well as communicate.

About the lesson

I believe that having a schedule with a student is the best way of creating a good commutation system. Therefore, that is the first step that I take when becoming acquainted with a new learner, I work with them to form a homework schedule that is helpful to the both of us. Students prefer to compromise, they deserve to have a say in the order in which they learn, especially when it comes to being tutored.

Then, I follow the schedule and figure out areas that need to be worked on and/or improved upon. This is where we would complete the initial assignment together, and then I would assign the student a few practice problems and see if they are able to do them without assistance. If assistance is needed, I will diligently work to figure out the way in which the student learns best.

Some students are more visual, others are tactical, and some are auditory learners, taking the intiiative to uncover what kind of learner your student is, is an important step to helping them succeed.

From there on, students will use me as a person they can look to for help on homework. However, I am focused on building their confidence in math so that they will be able to accomplish and learn concepts without feeling overwhelmed or defeated.

I strive for your student to be more than capable of achieving success in math with the help of structure, communication, and a gentle approach.

I have worked with students mostly with math difficulties, however I do have experience with those that find it difficult to do English homework. I am an AP student in English, however I find that my area of expertise in regards to tutoring is Math.

I would advise a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of experitise to find a teacher that is not only well-rounded, but also very communicative. It is so important to build a strong teacher-student relationship with a tutor because that is the best way to help a learner. If a student is comfortable, that is when they learn best.
