About Esther

I am an upcoming sophmore at Northwestern University, Evanston Illinois.

At my high school I have received a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) and a 4.87 (weighted) while being a tri-athlete. I have competed in math team during my high school years and have placed at these competitions. In addition on my SAT I have received an 800 on math and a 760 on reading.

In college I have participated in a mental health awareness club, pre-medical society, and am currently a research assistant.

I adore tutoring and have spent my life tutoring my cousins and helping out multiple friends in their studies. I enjoy making concepts that are catered towards those that I am tutoring to help them understand and enjoy the courses they are taking.

I enjoy making students more confident in studying. I want my students to be able to enjoy the opportunity they have to expand their knowledge. I want to make my students understand how to effectively use their time. One thing a lot of college students don't know how to do is how to study efficiently and effectively. This is something that I want my students to be able to do so that they'll be equipped in their future endeavors.

I have started teaching my cousins out of pure interest. I firmly believe in aiding others and making sure that everyone feels confident while studies. Not only do I want to help students in one subject, but I want to teach them long lasting skills that they can incorporate in all areas of their studies.

In high school I have taken AP BC calculus, AP statistics, AP chemistry, AP biology, AP psychology and AP government, AP US history, AP world history.

About the lesson

Before the first session I would like to receive past materials on what the student is working on. I would also like to see where the student is currently at on the subject. Another thing that I would like to know about are the student's interests. With this I would be able to understand what the student likes and be able to use that to advance their studies. By creating a connection with the student, working with the student will be more efficient and enjoyable for them.

I have worked with high school juniors, aiding them in their ACT and SAT studies. In addition, I have aided peers in whatever studies needed.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would like the student to first try to solve the problem themselves. Even if they are wrong, studies show that working through a problem and actively thinking about it helps the student learn. Then, the student would have to explain their thought process once they are done with the problem and how they came through that conclusion.
