About Chase

I have been a math tutor at Mathnasium for 2 years, while taking Engineering Calculous and Linear Algebra at the University of Utah. I love teaching students the fundametals of math and helping the truely understand math, not just memorizing tips and tricks to pass the next assignment.

I scored a 35 on the math secion on the ACT and a 5 on the AP Calculus BC portion.

I started teaching at Mathnasium, teaching from all ranges of math understanding, from simple counting to college calculous.

Studied Engineering at the University of Utah and Accounting at UVU.

2 years of math tutoring at Mathnasium with an additional year of private tutoring.

About the lesson

I like to first get an understanding of the students fundametals, how they add and multiply, and have them go through a few of the problems that they are going through in class to see their thought process and how to better help them excel at understanding math.

All ages, from 5 years old learning to count and add, to college students.

Look at how they do simple math first. It will tell you if they only have memorized what they are teaching, or if they truely understand the fundamentals of math.

I remember one of my high school students who had to use his fingers to simply count and add when he first came to me. We started at the very basics, and I taught him how to understand on a deeper level what he was doing, and 1 year later he was at the top of his math class and got into pre-cal the following year.
