About Akhil
I am a third year undergraduate at Magdalen College, Oxford University studying Engineering Science.
My tutoring focuses on developing strong and grounded understanding of topic material. I aim to equip my students with the intellectual tools they need to be able to tackle any academic challenge that comes their way.
While I do take classes, I specialise in one-on-one tutoring as it allows me to fully understand how my student thinks and tailor the way I teach accordingly.
I love the light bulb moment when a student finally understands a difficult concept that they have been struggling with for a long time.

I like to get the student talking as much as possible. Tutoring is an active learning process and my role as the tutor is simply to guide the student towards the correct line of reasoning.
My style of tutoring has two benefits. It teaches the student how to approach problem solving and it allows me to understand how they think so I can tailor how I teach accordingly.
I specialise in one-on-one tutoring as it allows me to get to know my student better and be the best possible tutor for them.
It also means I have met a lot of fantastic people from various walks of life. I've had the pleasure of tutoring young children that are hungry to learn, high school seniors striving to get into a good college and professionals taking part time courses to boost their careers.
My advice would be to look for a tutor that is trying to understand you rather than to teach you.
Before becoming a tutor I used to get tutoring myself and I found that the tutors that were able to help me grow the most were the ones that asked me a lot of questions and encouraged me to think for myself. It is likely these are the very tutors that inspired me to become a tutor myself.

Perfect! My daughter had her first session with Akhil to help her with Calculus. He was punctual professional and knowledgeable. He explained concepts with examples and was patient. So far so good!
