My name is Kiefer Josephs, a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, and this summer I received tutoring in mathematics from Duncan Haywood via skype conferences. My goal was to pass a college algebra placement test and be allowed entrance into the physics course needed for my major. I was out of touch with the complexities of the subject, yet with Duncan’s help I was able to pass the entrance exam. I am a visual, kinesthetic learner and find digital classrooms to be difficult, however, even though we met on an online platform, Duncan was able to create a comprehensive learning environment in which I felt supported.
His ability to break down complex ideas into their component structures and adapt his own language to fit my learning vocabulary all made for an excellent experience. He is a smart, patient teacher who helped give me the confidence and tools I needed to succeed. I am happy to have invested my time and resources in acquiring his help and would gladly do so again should I require an extra mind.
