About Joanne

Hi! I am a college student looking to help students improve in their math or economics skills. I have tutored students K-12th before in mathematics and have been a recommended tutor at UC Davis due to high academic acheivements there. I enjoy tutoring students because it is both a fun and challenging experience to try to adapt to everyone's learning style. The most rewarding part of the job though is seeing students finally understand the material and improve their academic performance.

I previously worked at Mathnasium where I tutored students through high school. I also have been a private neighborhood tutor.

About the lesson

Generally, I'll administer some test questions to get an understanding of where the student is in the subject first. I'll also try to understand what the student's mentality is towards the subject to see how I want to organize the sessions and keep them engaged.

I've worked with all kinds of students, including those unwilling to learn and also those with a stronger mathematical background beyond their age.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try come up with a goal that they want to achieve when they sign up for tutoring. The hardest students to work with are those who have no motivation to improve their academics.
