About Sonam

Hello! My name is Sonam and I am a recent graduate of New York University with a degree in Economics and minors in Business Studies and Computer Science. I graduated with high honors from college this past year. Over the past few years, I have tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in Math, English, Writing, and Science, coached students for the SAT, and provided feedback for students’ college application essays. I have held one on one tutoring/coaching sessions at students’ homes and at local coffee shops.

My favorite aspect of tutoring is seeing the student grow both academically and mentally. I tailor each session based on how the student learns best, and I work with the student to tackle their areas of difficulty most effectively. Most of my students score better and grasp concepts faster as time goes on. As a recent student myself, I fully understand the stress that comes from taking difficult subjects, and my goal is to alleviate that stress in students by working through the challenging concepts during our tutoring sessions, rather than seeing those concepts for the first time on the test.

I love seeing my students progress! I individually cater each session to the student, so over time students respond and perform better, which is extremely rewarding.

I have been a tutor for over 4 years and I have been an instructor for both dance and Taekwondo for over 5 years. I really enjoy working with students and I hope to continue that passion with yours!

About the lesson

We ease into it. First I get to know their learning techniques and academic objectives, and I personally cater a plan to effectively tackle their goals moving forward. Then we get into the material and continue tweaking the learning technique as need be.
