About Sam
Hi there! My name is Samantha and I would love to help out your student. I'm a middle and high school math tutor who has worked with students of many different learning styles, confidence levels, and in a range of mathematical subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and the SAT. In high school I took AP Calc, AP English Lit, and AP Physics and scored in the 98th percentile on the SAT. During my recent gap year I tutored over fifteen hours a week, fully home-schooled a student, and tutored a student with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). I'm currently attending the Pfhorheimers Honors College and Pace School of Performing Arts at Pace University!
A little about my teaching style: I am a believer that all students can be equally successful in school if the teaching style resonates with the student's learning style. Often, students concluded they can not succeed in a subject - when in reality - the subject has not been taught in a way that is accessible and logical to them. I want to help my students understand they can learn anything. I am dedicated to giving my students the skills to identify how they learn best and the tools to: recognize the origin of mistakes, find new approaches, and continue to succeed independently. I first focus on ensuring that the student understands the basics of the given topic, so that then we can build on that knowledge and make daunting concepts simple.
