About Raina
I thought math was incredibly difficult until I met my ninth grade math teacher, Eric Hayden, who made learning math exciting. His way of teaching and understanding influenced my decision in becoming a math major. Many children have not been taught in a way that makes them want to learn. My goal is to make learning math an enjoyable experience for children like Eric Hayden did for me.
I received my Associates of Arts from Bard College in May of 2021. I will be continuing my Data Science and Statistics degree online. I tutored Algebra II and Trigonometry classes at Bard Academy during my freshmen year of college. I helped prep for exams and sat in on classes to assist the teacher and students. I held review sessions and individual tutoring as needed.
I am frequently told I have a very friendly face! I am bubbly and understanding which aides a more comfortable learning environment. I went through a lot of the struggles these children are having with math and it can take a long time to fully understand a topic. My mission as a tutor is for children to understand the concepts. I do not want them to simply memorize something they will forget soon after.
