About Kamalini

I recently started tutoring on my own, but I do have some prior experience. In my junior year, I volunteered at a local tutoring center for elementary schoolers. I helped 3rd and 4th graders with various math and English skills, working with each individual student on their weaknesses. The same year, I worked for a program called the Refugee Youth Academy with the International Rescue Committee. During this, I helped teach several English, math, and classroom communication skills to young refugee students coming from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, South Africa, and many others.

With students, I prefer working one on one and finding where a student’s weaknesses are and honing in on them with different problems. Finding what concepts a student struggles with and helping clarify them is crucial to success. Then, practicing with textbook problems and seeing the multiple ways a certain concept can be tested is beneficial to helping students feel comfortable to take on test questions. This approach has certainly given me success in high school and college and I hope to use it to give you success and self-confidence as well! I'm still new to tutoring on my own, but having just gone through high school, my experiences and studying methods are still fresh and I am positive I can use them to help you succeed with your goals!

I enjoy helping others with academics because I also struggled with them in middle and high school. I would constantly do terribly in math and chemistry in middle and the beginning of high school. However, towards the end of high school and in college, I started to develop new study strategies and started asking for help from other students. This improved my performance in these subjects, especially in college. I would love to share my study strategies with other students who need help as they not only helped my performance but also boosted my confidence.
