About Devon
I figure out what the student is struggling with and also find something that they are really into. I use this information to then relate any problems being presented in their work to help with the thinkng process of the problem at hand.
I enjoy seeing the joy and excitement of a student succeeding and realizing that they can actually do the work and that it's not so hard with just a little bit of extra effort.
I use to be substitute teacher for K-12 for about a year and 7th-12th grade for another year and a half. I became an aide for ISTEP testing for a middle school to help them assist students in understanding and working through state math problems. I moved into becaming a temporary 7th grade math teacher. After that I worked in 2 different charter schools as a teacher's aid (paraprofessional) for grades K-8. I pulled small instructional groups for 2 years in various grades.
Substitute Teacher for K-12 for about 3 years
ISTEP testing aid for a middle school (3 months prior to state testing window)

We go through introductions and ice breakers, then we talk to figure out what it is that they are struggling with and some things that the student like to do. This will let me evaluate what I can relate their work to for a more relatable understanding.
