About Paul
I am currently a junior in college, studying Actuarial Science at Temple University. I have been tutoring since high school when I was a volunteer peer tutor at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High. In college, I went on to volunteer with the Math Motivators program, tutoring children in math in underserved communities. I also worked as an employee of the Resnick Academic Support Center at Temple as a student tutor. At the Resnick Center, I tutored varsity athletes in math subjects ranging from Algebra to Calculus III.
As an honor roll student in high school, I was asked to tutor some of my peers in subjects that they needed some extra help with. After high school, I wanted to find more ways to volunteer as a math tutor, which is where I discovered the Math Motivators program at the University of Connecticut.
I have gone through a few training workshops for tutoring through Temple University, and through the Math Motivators program which I volunteered for.

My first steps in working with a new student are to lay out a framework for our future sessions. We first need to both have an understanding of what we will be working on together, and establish mutual expectations for each other. After laying out a plan, I like to get right into the work. I am big on learning by doing, so the more practice I can get a student to have, the more successful I believe they will be.
I have worked with students from fourth grade, all the way up through college. The people I have taught have also ranged from needing substantial assistance to just clarifying a few topics for them. I am able to organize our sessions to best support the needs of the student.
