Felice has been teaching for over 30 years and tutors students in grades 4 through 8 in Math and English Language Arts. During her teaching career, she has taught at schools in California, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, as well as in New Zealand. She is special education certified and has extensive experience customizing her curriculum and providing enrichment, including for gifted students. She is experienced in administering assessments to determine the specific needs of her students. She has also published and presented her poetry at several venues during the last twenty years.
Philosophically, I believe that the intrinsic joy of learning can be taught, and is the key to a strong academic program and a life-long commitment to learning. To teach is to be charged with the responsibility to create such an atmosphere, and to help students acquire the prerequisite skills necessary to bring the long process of learning to a successful and meaningful conclusion. I also believe that an effective communication. which welcomes parents as integral members of their child's educational team, is essential in helping students work toward their academic and social-emotional success.
I've taught for over 30 years in public and private schools, in regular education classrooms, with gifted and special education students, in 4 US states and in New Zealand. I especially love tutoring math and writing, and finding ways to help students learn to love learning and to be good at it.
