About Natalie

I am a friendly, easy to get along with tutor who is excited about helping people achieve their academic goals. I recently graduated with distinction from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health, so I am familiar and comfortable with various academic environments and subjects. I understand the struggles many students are currently facing with remote learning and want to use my experience with both remote learning and teaching to help. I have worked with students of all ages and would be happy to assist you at any level. My academic accomplishments make me very qualified to help tutor elementary and middle school students in all subjects, as well as high school level Biology, Chemistry, or Math. Additionally, I can offer general homework help, studying tips, or test-taking strategies.

I really enjoy seeing the work I do help others improve in their own work. Nothing is more satisfying than that "aha!" moment when solving a problem or trying to understand a concept, and I love to see students get there. I also enjoy tutoring because I can learn a lot from students as well, and the exchange and communication is beneficial in both directions.

I have always had a knack for teaching a tutoring and began doing it informally while babysitting. I would frequently help kids ages 5-10 with homework and various subjects and became familiar with teaching strategies in that setting. My ability to teach has grown through leading study sessions and groups throughout college and tutoring peers in my classes.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. I completed this degree recently and also received minors in Chemistry and Medical Anthropology. I am also an incoming graduate student earning my Master's in Epidemiology. Thus my expertise lies in STEM-related fields, as well as public health and social sciences.

About the lesson

With a new student, I would begin by asking what the student's ideal teaching methods are and how the student learns best, whether that is visual, auditory, etc. We will discuss what area you need help with and why you may be struggling to identify exactly what topics need to be addressed. With this information, I will develop strategies to implement during that session with the student to ensure progress is made.

I have worked with students of all ages, ranging from kindergarten to college ages.
