About Athena

Hi! My name is Athena. I have several years of experience as a tutor and have worked with individuals of all ages in a variety of different subjects. My approach is to inspire students to be the best versions of themselves, both academically and personally. I encourage my students to challenge themselves and strive to better their understanding of the subject matter they struggle with. By persevering and setting achievable goals, I am able to guide their growth. Creating a strategic plan for learning and development not only improves students’ grades but also cultivates their personal growth and yearning to succeed. I utilize the unique learning styles and needs of every student to provide the best lesson plans, worksheets, and resources. All of my students have different learning styles and personalities, and working with such a variety of students has allowed me to help others more efficiently depending on their personality. Through positive reinforcement, I instill confidence in my students and ensure they understand the material. I encourage my students’ academic success by following up with them, their families, and their teachers on their progress. While celebrating their victories, I simultaneously focus on reinforcing their weaker areas until they feel comfortable with the material. Guiding others taught me how to be a resource to people who lack academic motivation or who are uncomfortable seeking help. Students entrust me with their future because I tell them once they set their mind on something and work hard, nothing can stand in their way. This mentality not only aids my students but helps them unlock their full potential because everyone needs someone who believes in them. I have proven to increase students’ test scores, grades, and confidence.

I will be graduating from Los Angeles Pierce College with four associate degrees in Spring 2020. I made the Dean’s Honor List several times within my academic career while balancing different jobs. I will be transferring to California State University, Northridge in Fall 2020 and receiving my Bachelor of Science in Accountancy & Finance as a double major in 2022. I can’t wait to work with you!
