About Joshua
Hi! My name is Josh, and I am a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. I have years of experience in teaching and tutoring students of all levels, from elementary to graduate school, in math and science. As a teacher and mentor, I strive to impart not only knowledge, but also the critical and independent thinking skills necessary for success outside of the classroom. This means that during our sessions, we will not only solve problems for your class, but also talk about effective learning and studying strategies. If we work together, we will explore the ins, outs, and whys of math and science (and why they are so interesting) instead of just equations and memorization. I hope to see you soon!
Through my work I teach undergraduate and graduate students on a daily basis. This includes developing lessons, teaching them, and fielding questions. In the past, I was a mentor and math tutor for middle school students as part of the Higher Achievement Middle School Program, which prepared students in the Washington, DC area for high school entrance exams. I also do a variety of outreach, including Science Olympiad and Science Fair judging, acting as a science advisor to non-profits, and talking with with elementary and middle school students across the country about my research and how it relates to what they were learning in their science classes.
