About Jamie
My service stands out because I understand that not every child learns the same way. And I've taught all the "ways". I have many strategies for learning tools. I have a master's degree in mathematics education and over 30 years experience teaching middle, secondary and college math. In addition, I have over 20 years experience teaching future teachers their introductory math education classes. I continue to teach Dual Credit and currently focus on teaching high school Senior College Readiness Math and Pre-Calculus. My emphasis is on both learning to master the paper and pencil mathematics computation, enabling understanding and success in next next level courses, as well as the use of the calculator (TI-84 and TI-nSpire only) for speed and accuracy during problem solving and testing situations. I currently use FaceTime and Skype for tutoring and have been using online instruction/tutoring for the past 7 years. I also have YouTube video supplemental videos. My focus is on student success and understanding. I welcome your interest and questions.
I love helping students. My Mother was a teacher and I grew up knowing I wanted to be like her. I love seeing the questioning looks on student faces change to be smiles and looks of understanding. I love knowing that I have contributed a small bit to a student’s success in life.
