About Megan
My name is Megan! I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education-Math. I was a tutor throughout college ranging from Pre- Algebra to higher college level math courses. I was a high school math teacher for two years teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry as well as RTI. I also have experience working with middle school mathematics ranging from 6th-8th grade. My lessons usually consist of introducing the material, explaining why it is important and how it will help us with future content, explicitly teaching the material, and then allowing the students to practice on their own. I also like to use manipulative, like algebra tiles, to help re-mediate and deepen students' understanding of content.
I am certified to teach 6-12 Math. I have many lessons for 6th-8th grade math, Algebra 1, and Geometry. I also have experience with Algebra 2, Calculus, PreCal, and Trigonometry.
I have spent many hours before and after school tutoring students on Algebra 1 and Geometry material, whether it be over assignments, lessons, or general questions. I work to put as much effort as I can in order to help students engage in their learning and understand the material. If students still struggle to understand the material, I try to include different perspectives and other ways to work the problems.
My biggest policy is that the student comes first. I will adapt lessons to accommodate students' needs. I appreciate resources and suggestions for material you can provide to help students' learning and experience.
