About Shirley

I Love Mathematics! And I love imparting its beauty and perfection (and imperfection!) to my students.

I was not a straight A math student, in fact I really had to work at it to understand the concepts, but I loved solving puzzles and that's what math became for me. Now as a retired teacher i enjoy helping students see that same fun on a one-to-one basis

I have taught students of all abilities. My life experience includes working with Special Needs children, and adults as well.

My education and certification are as follows:

Batchelor of Science, Mathematics. 1977

University of Redlands, Redlands, CA

Master of Arts, Leadership in Teaching. 2004

College of Notre Dame Of Maryland, Baltimore, MD

Secondary Education, Mathematics Teacher,

Baltimore County Public Schools,

State of Maryland. 1999-2012

My Experience includes:

High School Math Teacher in the following subjects:

Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry. 1999-2012

Adjunct Faculty, Community College of Baltimore County

Remedial Math, Aerobic Exercise. 1990-2011

Taught Aerobic Dancing. 1985-2011

Seeing the student become successful--whether it's a "light bulb moment", or something that grows over time--and then the confidence that grows from that.
