I love working with them on ESL, reading comprehension, and writing issues so that they can move up to the next grade.
I love inspiring them by telling them about my book, Jamie is Autistic and my work experience so that they, too, can achieve great things in their lives.

I assess their knowledge in and progress to date in the subject in which I'm tutoring them and then focus on the areas that need improvement by setting up work to help them. I bring in worksheets and patiently guide them by giving examples. Then, they do practice sheets for me.
Then, they bring in content questions from school and previous tests and we go over problem areas. From time to time with my ESL students, I may ask them to repeat passages verbally and record them to hear how their accent has been reduced to speak clearly and concisely. Accents are charming but to be effective in class and at work, they need to be refined.
