About Emily
I have been a 6th grade math teacher in Gilbert Public schools for 4.5 years. While my main experience is in classroom teaching, I have tutored for friends and family over the years, and even helped tutor some students over the summer when the schools shut down during the pandemic. love teaching math and helping students to learn to love math. I am highly certified in both Middle Grades Mathematics and Science and also have a Masters Degree in Gifted Education. I believe that all students can be successful in math and my philosophy is that every time we do a problem or ask a question, we are getting one step closer to understanding.
I enjoy helping students gain confidence in their mathematical abilities and helping them realize that it's okay to ask questions and struggle through problems; that is how we learn.

In the classroom I always start off with getting to know the students and getting a baseline of where they are at mathematically. For individual help, students typically present topics and/or assignments they are struggling with and we go from there to build the skills.
