About Julia

Hi! I am recent graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. When tutoring, I apply my neuroscience background not only to help you learn, but also to provide insights about how you learn, so that we can utilize approaches that will enable you build your mental toolkit for independence and success in the future.

My home office is currently optimized for remote tutoring and I have a wide variety of visual aids and lab-style demonstrations that are compatible with long distance learning, particularly for science subjects!

About the lesson

I like to start by finding common ground with a new student, getting to know a little bit about them and their educational experiences. I generally ask to see their current work or work through a problem with them to assess which aspects of both the subject and the way that they apply their knowledge to the subject are potentially problematic. I also assess what the student's preferred learning style is and previously unsuccessful strategies have been so that I can tailor my approach accordingly.
