About Steven

My service comes backed with 21 years of experience in the teaching field. I am a dedicated teacher who will do his best to make sure that math concepts are clear and simple for my students.

I enjoy seeing students do well in school. I enjoy knowing that I have helped a student to become the best they can be.

I began teaching in 1998 in Bellflower.

I have been an elementary teacher for the past 21 years. I have taught 6th grade math during that entire time.

About the lesson

To begin, I want to know what area of math the student is currently working on in their classroom. I want to see their textbook, their homework, and past tests, exams or quizzes that they have taken. I want to see how well they know basic math skills and then I can get a good picture of how to proceed. Of course I will always listen to my students as to what area they want to improve in.

I have worked with students of all abilities. I have worked with students with limited English and learning disabilities.

Look for someone with experience and knows what they are doing. They need to hire someone who is dedicated and will not give up on them. They need someone who is knows how to work with students and listens to them.

I am proud to see my students asking for more work to better understand a concept. That is a rewarding experience. And I love it when a student asks questions about math and sees their mistakes and how to improve.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They need to know which area they want to work on the most. Is it a specific skill they are working on in class. Is it past lessons that they did not master? Is it basic skills that they need practice with? I can assist with any and all areas that a student needs help with.
